David Collins

Master Winemaker

As the Master Winemaker and Co-Owner of Big Cork Vineyards, Dave oversees every aspect of production, from vineyard management to wine bottling. With a background in horticulture, Dave transitioned into viticulture and winemaking in the mid-1980s in Loudoun County, Virginia. Fast forward to the early 2010's, Dave began transforming the rolling hills of a former corn and hay field into the award-winning vineyard and winery that is Big Cork. His wines have won numerous annual Maryland Governor's Cups and consistently deliver varietal character and flavors upon which Big Cork has built its reputation. Outside of work, Dave enjoys traveling, playing guitar, and gardening.

Abby Cline

Assistant Hospitality Manager

In her role at Big Cork Vineyards, Abby focuses on wine education, Tasting Room events, and providing memorable experiences for our guests. It brings her immense joy to share the language of wine with our Big Corkers, especially when she can help them have fun while learning about the intricacies of viticulture. Her journey into the industry began during her Biochemistry undergrad, where she conducted research on the fermentation of our Barbera grapes, leading her to a fulfilling career at BCV. Abby is grateful for the partnership she has with her husband, Jay (our Assistant Winemaker), that helps her share our process between the vineyard, cellar, and Tasting Room all within our estate.

After spending time in a traditional office position, he transitioned to working in the vineyards at age 23. There, he discovered a real passion for viticulture and hasn't looked back since. Outside of winemaking, Jay enjoys skiing in the winter, hiking & gardening in the summer, and traveling to new places whenever there's an opportunity to do so. He takes great pride in working alongside our team, including his wife Abby, to produce high-quality wines from vine to bottle.
