FAQ's & Policies

Wine Tastings

  • What style of wines do you offer?

We offer something for everyone. Our wine portfolio provides a variety of styles and flavor profiles for all palates. We offer dry, semi-dry, sparkling, port, and dessert wines.

  • May I choose my own wine for the tasting?

Trust us. We select six wines and serve them in an order that will allow for the best tasting experience. Following your personal and attentive tasting experience, pick your favorite and buy a bottle to enjoy on the patio. Or grab a case to bring home.

  • If I purchase a bottle after my tasting and don’t finish it while I’m at Big Cork, can I take it home?

You sure can. We wouldn’t want you to waste a drop of it and, apparently, our politicians feel the same. Under Maryland Law, you may cork it and take it with you.

  • Do I need to make a reservation for a wine tasting?

Yes, please and thank you. Reservations allow us to serve you promptly and provide all the TLC you deserve. Please see our VISIT page to reserve online or call Tanya Kloos: 301.302.8032.

*As availability permits, we are happy to accommodate walk-ins.

Children/Pets

  • Is Big Cork kid friendly and dog friendly?

Yes, we love children and dogs. Just keep a watchful eye on your two-leggeds and four-leggeds at all times. Please keep pets on a leash outside on our patio or lounging in our grassy areas.

  • Can I bring my family to your outdoor concerts?

100 percent. Everything here is family friendly (we consider dogs family, too, but for their comfort, please leave your pets at home for our large concerts and events ).

Food/Drink

  • May I bring my own wine, beer, or spirits?

That’s a Big no-no. Due to Maryland State regulations and licensure policies, we cannot permit the consumption of alcohol not purchased at Big Cork. But we do offer an option to serve beer and spirits at private events—after our Tasting Room has closed.

  • Do you offer food onsite?

We have a fabulous Grab-and-Go food market with carefully curated artisanal cheeses, fresh-baked baguettes, crackers, charcuterie, chocolates, and lots of other goodies. Let’s say you’re hanging at one of our free live outdoor concerts and you get a bigger hankering. It happens. Good news, we also offer super YUM Sicilian style pizzas baked hot on-site.

  • May I bring food with me?

Definitely. Pack a picnic and enjoy it anywhere on the property (with the exception of our Tasting Room Bar).

  • Do we need to provide our own glassware for wine tastings or bottle purchases?

    Nope. We’ve got you covered.

  • If I purchase a bottle after my tasting and don’t finish it while I’m at Big Cork, can I take it home?

You sure can. We wouldn’t want you to waste a drop of it and, apparently, our politicians feel the same. Under Maryland Law, you may cork it and take it with you.

  • Children

We’re Big on kids and family, however, we do require that all children remain within arm’s reach of their guardians while visiting our property. Children are included in the group policy of up to 6 people on our patios and porches per table (cuz kids are people, too). Children’s parties are not permitted.

  • Decorations

If you rent space for a private event, you may bring decorations. Otherwise, we do not allow balloons, floral arrangements, glitter, streamers, banners, crock pots, chafing dishes, music speakers, etc.

  • Outside Alcohol Policy

When visiting Big Cork Vineyards, please note the only alcohol that is permitted on our property is Big Cork Vineyards wine. This is Maryland law. Please do not bring any other alcohol including, but not limited to, previously purchased Big Cork Vineyards wine, wine from another vineyard, beer, liquor, or any other alcoholic beverage. Failure to abide by these laws subjects us to hefty fines and a loss of our license. Violators will be asked to leave the property immediately.

  • Smoking

Smoking, including cigars, is permitted on property, but limited to our West Porch area (to the right of the building). Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em…but only where allowed, please and thanks.

  • Other Big No-No’s

We hate saying no, but these rules ensure all of our guests enjoy their time at our vineyard.

    ● No outside music, including radios, speakers, and musical instruments.

    ● Hired transportation must call in advance.

    ● No movement of our furniture.
